John Striker, who says he keeps a grocery store at No. 198 Rivington street, New York, was a complainent against Solomon Slevinin the Jefferson Market police court this morning. Mr. Striker said that last evening Slevin was in the company of a man who tried to sell him a package of counterfeit money. Striker took the money and at once summoned Officer John Doyle of the Fifteenth Precinct, but the salesman disappeared before the officer arrived. The officer therefore arrested Slevin. The package of alleged counterfeit money was produced in court this morning, and when it was unwrapped it was found to contain eight smaller packages. On the top and bottom of each smaller package was one good dollar bill and the intervening ones were found to be plain blank brown paper of the same size as the one dollar bills. Slevin, who refused to give his residence, was remanded into the custody of the United States Commissioners.
