Kessell Made Arrest.

And Found Later That Burglary Had Been Committed.

Roundsman John Kessell of the Herbert street station succeeded in arresting Hugh Slavin, 24 years, of 156 Union avenue, at an early hour this morning on the charge of burglary. A bottle of whisky was found in the pocket of the prisoner, which, it is claimed, was stolen from the saloon at 160 Union avenue, of which Emil Brosig is the proprietor. The roundsman saw a number of young men standing in front of the saloon, who ran away at his approach, but Kessell succeeded in arresting Slavin. It was found that the rear window of the saloon had been forced open. The proprietor, however, was unable to state the extent of his loss.

This morning Slavin was taken to police headquarters am had his picture taken. He was later arraigned in the Manhattan avenue court where he pleaded not guilty to the charge of petty larceny and was held.
