Edwin Slavin, a young man about eighteen years of age, visited the blacksmith shop of Samuel Winchester on Lawrence street yesterday afternoon at about half-past five o'clock, and after some conversion, Slavin knocked down the shop keeper, who is about 75 years of age, and grabbed his pocket book with about $35 in greenbacks, and ran off. The facts were reported ot the police, and officers A.E. Libby and Esty found and arrested him directly after he returned home, this morning at an early hour. He acknowledged the assault and robbery, and said he gave the money to another person, who has not been found. The case will come up in court tomorrow.
