Pawtucket, Aug 30-- Thomas Slavin was placed under arrest this afternoon to await the result of injuries inflicted on Michael Rooney, who had engaged in a fight with Slavin's son John, at his house on Pleasant st.
He went to John's assistance, and with a club laid out Rooney with one blow, cutting a gash in his head that required five stitches to close.
John Slavin, Mary Jacques, and Louisa Wallace were locked up as witnesses. There are fears that Rooney's wound may prove fatal.
