J.P. Slaven and a party consisting of twelve persons have arrived from Battle Mountain, Nev., on their way to the eastward, accompanied by D.W. Rice of White River, Nev., who has a number of fine horses. John C. Folkerson and family are of the party. They are all in search of a home.

Arizona Weekly Journal Miner (Prescott, Arizona), December 21, 1877.

Note: Is "J.P." the man's initials, or is this a reference to John G. Slaven, who was a Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in Mohave County?
