SLAVENSóCharles L. Slavens, 78, of 2828 E. Second St., died yesterday in a Long Beach hospital. A native of Union Township, Ohio, he came from Muscatine, Iowa, to Long Beach in 1941. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Edythe Flynn of Wichita, Kan.; son Charles R. Slavens of Long Beach; brother, Jacob Slavens of Beaver, Ohio; two sisters, Misses Priscilla and Emma Slavens of Lucasville, Ohio; and three grandchildren. Services will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Loper Chapel. Rev. Willard A. Schurr of Atlantic Avenue Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyside Memorial Park.
