Died-- In Des Moines, Thursday, June 10, 1884, at 5 o'clock a.m., John Slaven, aged 23 years. Funeral this afternoon at 2 o'clock.

The young man whose death is here announced has suffered over two years with consumption. Up to the time he was taken sick he was the support of his widowed mother. His father was a soldier and died years ago in St. Joseph, Missouri. Since the sickness of young Mr. Slaven, the mother has carried a great responsibility and has parted with many of her household goods to supply her everyday necessities. She has shown her true mother's love for her boy, and she has the greatest sympathy of friends in her bereavement.

John Slavin, aged 24 years, died at the residence of John Morrisey, corner of Sixth and Elm streets, yesterday morning at 5 o'clock. He will be buried this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Johnny, as he was familiarly known, will be well remembered by the people of this city, and join with his relatives in mourning his untimely demise.
