William B. Slavens, 76 years old, R.R. 3, West Terra Haute, died at 8:50 o'clock yesterday morning at St. Anthony Hospital. Surviving are the wife, Otie; six daughters, Mrs. Minnie Fisher, Mrs. Nettie Griffin, Mrs. Eva Brannin and Mrs. Violet Berkley, all of R.R. 3, West Terre Haute; Mrs. Daisy Graves or Terre Haute and Mrs. Grace Chamber of Shelburn: a son, James of Terre Haute; four step-sons, William Walker, Scott Walker, and Elmer Krise, all of R.R. 3, West Terre Haute, and Arthur Krise of Terra Haute; four step-daughters, Mrs. Lydia Morris of R.R. 2, West Terre Haute, Mrs. Beulah Darkis and Mrs. Nimmie Gown, both of R.R. 3, West Terre Haute, and Mrs. Mary Teager of Gardenia. Cal.; a sister, Mrs. Essie Robertson of Terre Haute; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the Bedino Chapel of the Valley and will be returned to the residence at 1 o'clock this afternoon. At 12:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon the body will be taken to the Dresser Methodist Church, where services will be conducted at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon. Burial will be in the Bethesda Cemetery. The Rev. Troy Thomas will officiate.
