Dear Laura, My Grandfather (and namesake Michael Joeseph) was also born in Glasgow, about 1880.In 1922 he came, with my then pregnant Grandmother, to live with their Canadian relatives, the 'Turnbull's'in Vancouver(via Eastern Canada). My convent educated grandmother thought the Canadians much too "backward" and had my Grndfather leave for Seattle, to have my father be born a yank. From there they settled with their only son Matthew Bradley Slaven, in Hollywood (you can find my dad's picture on Larry's 'Slaven'web site under 'Misc', as a Western Film actor. My Grandfather was joined by his only brother,Matthew Gabriel Slaven, in the early 1920's. My dilema is that I have no knowledge of my Grandfather's father or mother. Heck, my Great Grandfather could have had a brother, whose son was named George, and we might be related! My interest is keen because in June I am taking my family to Scotland and I sincerely hope to link up with some relatives. I know that if I can find my Grandfather's Scotish birth cert., it will have his parents names on it. Any pieces or lineage you can share would be helpful and I will keep a look-out for a "George" as I search backward in time. I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks, Michael
