Hi Michael
I have been researching the slaven/slavin/slevin name in Scotland, especially the Glasgow area.

The best place to find a Scottish birth certificate online is from the 'ScotlandsPeople' web site at:-
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

You have to pay to access the site, but you can download an image of the actual birth extract.

If you know the name and date your Grandfather was born it should be fairly easy to find the right birth certificate.

After a certain year Scottish birth certificates also show where the parents were married and the date of the marriage.
