I am the great-great grandaughter (3-2-1-4-11-J) of Henry Slavens (4-11-J.) I have been reminded that my father(Orin Clyde Slavens) mentioned the existence of a Civil War snare drum and Company Flag. I could assume that it belonged to Henry Slavens since he entered the war at age 15. I'm told young men of that age were frequently placed in the position of 'drummer boy.' I wonder if it was possible that he was allowed to keep his drum and flag. Can anyone out there validate this story? If so, I would like to know who has the drum and flag. I would like to have a picture of it for our family album. I look forward to hearing from some of you.
