Subject: Slaven's from Maybole, Ayrshire, Scotland.


I'm looking for earlier family history and willing to share what history I have on the Slaven family, that came from Maybole, Ayrshire, Scotland and settled in Staten Island, N.Y.. Francis Slaven married Helen Newberry in 1843 in maybole, their son James Slaven (B 1843 in Givan) married Rachel Brown at Maybole on 10/26/1872, and she was B 01/04/1853 in Maybole, her parents Rachel Mcmaster and Robert Brown married 1847. James and Rachel came to the USA in 1888, with their 4 eldest of 12 children, Margaret (Hodgeon), Jeanette AKA Jane (Stillwell) Rachel (Markem) And James. Born in the USA was Brothers Adam, Frank, Robert, Thomas, William, John, Matthew And George, all resided in Staten Island for At least their childhood. Thier son James married Mary Elizabeth Coates 5/21/1899 in So. Boston, Had 4 children Margaret Josephine (Hansen)B 1900. Mary Elizabeth (Boquest)B 1903, Ethel Coates (Lowery)B 1906 and James Norman B 1901. James Norman married Virginia Bachoff of So. Boston and resettled in Staten Island,N.Y. where most of the family was and had 4 children Dorothy (Depuma), William (my Father), James and Robert. Any History would be greatly appreciated.
