Charles Slavin, aged 40 years, while at work this morning hoisting coal from a canal boat to the steamship Rio Janeiro at Roberts dock, was struck on the head by a heavy piece of coal, receiving a contused scalp wound. He was attended by Ambulance Surgeon Hutchinson, and was taken to his home at No. 190 John street.
