Assault and Battery.

Yesterday morning a young man named Michael Slaven, was before Mayor Conrad, on the charge of committing an assault and battery on James Wilman, with intent to kill. The defendant, it seems, wanted Wilman to purchase a picnic ticket, which he decined. This incensed Slavin (sic), and he struck Wilman a violent blow in the face with a piece of lead. The fellow ran, but was pursued and overtaken by an officer. The Mayor held him in $2000 bail to answer the charge.
