This morning, about half-past four o'clock, an attempt was made to enter a shoe store, on Fifth street, below Monroe. Officer Keyser, of the Second District, discovered a man in the act of forcing the lock on the door. The fellow was taken into custody and gave the name of John Slaven. The prisoner was arraigned before Alderman Tittermary, and, for a hearing, was sent below.
