Yesterday afternoon a man named Michael Slavin was run over in James street by a horse and cart, and was almost instantly killed. The deceased was intoxicated at the time, and while endeavoring to pick his hat out the gutter, stumbled and fell into the middle of the street. A horse and cart coming along at the time, the unfortunate man was run over and killed. Coroner Perry held an inquest on the body, where the jury rendered a verdict of "accidental death." Deceased was fifty years of age, and a native of Ireland.
