The alarm of fire, on Monday evening last, about nine o'clock, was occasioned by the upsetting of a candle at the residence of Lawrence Slaven, in Patterson Row, South Ward. The fire was extinguished after destroying a bed, and some other property of small value. The different fire companies were promptly on the spot, and ready for action, but fortunately their services were not required.
