Five Arrested in Abuscade

Jamestown, Tenn.-- Five men were arrested Saturday night and are held in the Fentress county jail, charged with the abush slaying of Casper H. Wood, manager of the Zenith mine, last Tursday.

Two of those arrested, James Pennington and L.D. Conley, were taken into custody by Mine Guards Will Peavyhouse and Ed Slavens at the home of Tildoh Koger. The guards said the two men were found fully clothed at midnight on the porch of the Koger with loaded shotguns in their possession and a sack of shotgun shells nearby. They are striking miners.

Three others, Everett Tompkins, Clifford Tomkins nd Sam Smith, were arrested by Deputies Paul Sargeant and Mackey Robins at their homes which are near the mine. All will face preliminary hearings Tuesday.
