Thomas Hay, labourer, Blackness, and John Slaven, labourer, Cowgate, were Wednesday placed at the bar of the Police Court, charged with stealing two Guernsey frocks from the shop of a hosier in the Overgate, on the afternoon of Saturday se'ennight. It appeared from the evidence, that one of the prisoners had offered one of the frocks to a pawnbroker, who immediately sent for a police officer, and had the person taken into custody. On going down the stair they found the other prisoner waiting for his comrade, and he was also taken to the Police Office, and the other frock was discovered on his person. The prisoners were sentenced to fifteen days each in Bridewell.
