Last Sunday afternoon George Conway, son of the late Police Officer John R. Conway, was drowned at Black Point while bathing. Edward Slavin had been carried by the tide to a rock not far from shore, and Conway, who could not swim, tried to wade out to his rescue. The tide carried him off his feet, and he was drowned. Slaven was rescued by others.
