Courthouse.

Common pleas court convened this morning with the regular petit jury present.

The first case taken up and tried to jury was Charles Slavens vs. P.J. Weber-- a suit, brought to recover on four promissory notes given by Weber for rent, when he occupied the old hotel, known as the "Goose Nest," that formerly stood where the government building now stands. Mr. Weber, in his defense, claims that the notes were to have been paid by Andrew Fisher, who aferwards took charge of the hotel.
