The first reunion of the Slavens family was held August 13, 1908 at the home of Clay Slavens, two miles west of Parkersburg. There being 71 present, 65 members of the family. Those who were from a distance were Mart Slavens and family from Raub, Ind., Will Cooper family from Raub, Ind., Dr. LaVona Mitchael and daughter from Hudson, New York. It was voted that the next reunion would be August 25, 1909, at the home of Ed Wiatt near Russellville. After eating a good dinner and supper, the family separated at a late hour, all declaring it a day well spent.
