Extract from Lindsay's (Norfolk) Hotel Diary.

March 17: Mr. John Proby of Gloster brought information that two sloops struck on New Point Comfort bar, and went to pieces, and night coming on, no assistance could be given to the crews, who were entirely lost. One of the above sloops belonged to Fredericksburg, and was commanded by Mr. Jesse Sloven. He further reports, the two crafts had foundered at their anchors, in York river, and yet no accounts could be given of the crews.
