D.W. Slavens, 81, died at 6 o'clock yesterday morning at his home, 1001 East McKinsey street.
Mr. Slavens was bom November 13, 1862, in Troy, Mo., and in 1889 was married to Miss Josephine E. Elliott of Troy. They were the parents of two children, Aubrey Slavens of Valley Park, and Benjamin Slavens, who died in 1918.
His wife died in 1894, and Mr. Slavens later was married to Miss Lucy C. Walton, also of Troy. They had one child, Capt. Stonewell Artemis Slavens of Los Angeles. Besides his second wife and two sons, Mr. Slavens is survived by six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The body is at the home and funeral arrangements will be made later.

Funeral services for D. W. Slavens, who died Wednesday morning, will be held at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the home, 1001 McKinsey street. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
