Dan Slavens died at Winston last week and was buried by the Odd Fellows with all the honors of that order. He was born in Lawrence county, Ohio, on January 27, 1853, where he spent his early manhood. He married Miss Sophia Boyer of the same place on March 27, 1882. The family came to Montana in April, 1883, and lived for several years on Deep creek, from which place they moved to Neihart, and in 1893 removed to Winston. Mr. Slavens leaves a wife and one son, about 15 years of age, and also his three brothers, Harry, Edward, and Jerry, all at Winston.
