MRS. JAMES SLAVEN.

On Tuesday last the death occurred of Mrs. James Slaven, of Wistow, at the age of 84 years. Mrs. Slaven was a well known resident and highly respected by her many friends and acquaintances. Together with her husband, who predeceased her, Mrs. Slaven was a foundation member of the Mount Barker Caledonian Society, besides being a staunch supporter of the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Slaven's very active lifetime was spent at Wistow until a few years ago when failing health necessitated her staying with her daughter, Mrs. L. Bruce, in Mount Barker. On Monday of last week Mrs. Slaven suffered a stroke which resulted in her passing. The funeral will leave the residence of Mrs. Bruce at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) for the Wistow cemetery.

Mrs. Slaven is survived by three sons: Archie (Glossop) Malcolm (Leederville, W.A.), and Angas (Exeter), and two daughters—Lydia (Mrs. Potts, Wistow), and Mary (Mrs. Bruce, Mt. Barker).
