His Death Occurred Yesterday Morning After an Extended Illness.

Francis Edward Slavens well and favorably known in this city, died at his home, 3 Kent street, at 9:45 o'clock yesterday morning, after an illness of several months' duration.

Mr. Slaven was born in Rochester 41(?) years ago. He came to this city ten years ago and had since resided here. He was a railway mail clerk until illness compelled him to give up his work. Five years ago he married Josephine Myres of this city, who survives with one son. John M. Slaven.

The Rev. W.H. Slaven. pastor of St. Paul's Church in Whitesboro, and Matthew J. Slaven of Whitesboro, brothers of the deceased, are also survivors. Mr. Slaven was a member of St. John's Church and had many friends in this city who will regret his death.
