Margaret Mae Slavens.

Margaret Mae Slavens, 60, 505 S Jackson St, Greencastle, passed away Tuesday evening at Methodist Hospital Indianapolis, following a brief illness.

Born Feb. 29, 1920 in Owen County, she was the daughter of Robert Joshua and Mary Ann (Langdon) Cook.

Mrs. Slavens was employed at Rector Hall on the DePauw University campus. Survivors include a son, Gerald Eugene Slavens, GreencastIe; a daughter, Mrs. Sandra Kay Nelson, Portage; a son-in-law, Truman Nelson Jr.; her mother, Mary Ann Cook, Jordan Village; a sister, Josephine Langdon, Indianapolis; two brothers, Rex Cook and Robert E. Cook, both of Poland; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1966 and by a sister, Agnes Marie Smith, in 1967.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday from Whitaker-Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle. Rev. C. Thomas Steiner will officiate, with burial in Wilkinson Cemetery at Poland.

Friends may call 5-9 p.m. Thursday.
