Matthew J. Slaven, former Whitesboro druggist and brother of the late William Slaven of that village, died in a New York hospital Tuesday, according to word received by a nephew, John N. Slaven of 8 Irving Place.
Mr. Slaven was born in Rochester April 12, 1877, but spent most of his life in Utica and Whitesboro. He conducted a pharmacy in Whitesboro and for several years worked for John H. Sheehan in Utica. He left seven years ago to reside in New York where he was employed at various drug stores.
Mr. Slaven was a member of Utica Lodge, No. 33, B.P.O. Elks.
The nephew is the only survivor. The late Father Slaven of Whitesbbro was a brother of Matthew Slaven.
