CHATHAM.
Matthias Slavin.

On Monday, March 17, in St. Catherine's hospital, Brooklyn, Matthias, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthias Slavin of this town, passed away very suddenly of typhoid fever, after an illness of about two weeks, at the age of 21 years and 11 months. He was a graduate of the Chatham High school, in '09. Afterward taking a special course in Kingston college. The past year he had been filling a good position in New York city with the bright prospect of promotion in the future

Mattie, as he was called, was a favorite by all, being of a particularly bright and happy disposition, and thoughtful of others.

This is the first loss in a large family and his abscence from home and the suddenness of his death have cast a deep sorrow over the home circle.

Prayer was held at the home of his parents on Thursday last. Interment at Hyannis.
