As we go to press, we learn of the death of Milton Slavens of Pleasant Hill. He has never seen a well day since he was mustered out of the army. During the war he and several comrades drank water from a poison well in Kentucky. He was the only one who survived, but the effect of the poisoned draught got him at last.
