Webmaster's note: According to a descendant of the boxer Frank Slavin, his grandfather was Francis, not Patrick, and they came from County Tyrone, not County Kildare. I suspect Patrick below was, uh, fibbing.

Slavin's Grandfather.
Died at Dunwich.

During the week ended the 10th instant there died at the Dunwich Benevolent Asylum, Patrick Slavin, aged 70, a native, of Kildare, Ireland. Slavin was an old inmate of Dunwich and a bricklayer by trade. He was perfectly contented with his lot, and he frequently spoke of the pugilistic career of his grandson, Frank P. Slavin, those who knew of the relationship always keeping the old man informed as to Frank's doings.
