Paul S. Slaven.

Paul Siple Slaven, 74, son of the late Harry F. and Maude Siple Slaven, died suddenly near his home at Sandston, Thursday morning. Mr. Slaven was born at Monterey, where he resided until 1935 when he moved to Ferrum. Several years later he moved to Henrico county, later going to Sandston where he lived the remaining years of his life.

He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. In early life he was an active member of the King organization in Monterey. He was also an active member of his church in Sandston. He was of the Masonic Order. For a number of years he was associated with his father as a mortician. He was a skilled cabinet-maker and carpenter, and assisted in the erection of the Monterey Hotel.

He was united in m arriage in 1907 to Miss E. Warwick. They had no children.

He is survived by his wife; a sister, Mrs Elsie Lunsford, Wilmington, Del.; and two brothers, Forest L. Slaven, Ripley, W. Va., and Bruce Slaven, Harrisonburg. Another sister aud a brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services wiil be held at eight o'clock Saturday night at the Woody Funeral Home, Richmond, with graveside services in the Monterery cem etery Sunday at two.
