Mrs. Earl Settle Claimed By Death.

Friends in Fayetteville and Oak Hill were shocked on Tuesday of this week by news of the death of Mrs. Vallie Slaven Settle, which occurred on June 29, 1953 at the University Hospital, Charlottesville, Va. of a heart attack,

Mrs. Settle, who was reared at Oak Hill, devoted several years of her life to teaching in the public schools, retiring a few years ago when she was married to Mr, Settle. She was a woman of many fine graces of mind and heart and her death at 48 years of age, has brought sorrow to a wide circle of friends.

Funeral services for this excellent woman were held at the Fayetteville Methodist Church on Thursday monring with Rev. C. R. Bright and Dr. J. F. Frame officiating and the remains were interred in Highlawn Memorial Park at Oak Hill.

Besides her husband, O. E. Settle, she is survived by one brother, G. C. Slaven, of Oak Hill.
