Rev. Wesley Slavens died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Witt, last Sunday morning. His remains were laid in the family burying ground Monday at 2 o'clock. Rev. T.B. Farry conducted the funeral services. Brother Slavens was one of our oldest citizens, having been born and raised within one mile of his present homestead. He had reached the ripe old age of 70 years. He was preceded to the home prepared for the followers of Christ by two wives and nine children, and has three sons and two daughters who survive to mourn his loss.
