William Slaven, aged 69 years, died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mamie Livingston, 129 Cedar street, Richmond Hill. Death was due to general debility incident to old age. He was born in Ireland, and for many years was a well known hotel keeper in East New York, but lost his money through misfortune, and twenty-one years ago he entered the employ of the Long Island Railroad as a gateman, continuing in that capacity until shortly before his death.
The deceased was the last survivor of five brothers, one of whom, Lawrence Slaven, died two years ago, leaving a fortune of $85,000.
The deceased is survived by a son, Thomas, and a daughter, Mrs. Livingston.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, and a priest from St. Benedict Joseph's Church, Morris Park, will officiate.
