Long Island Items.

On Wednesday last, while Frank Slavin was driving a wagon loaded with straw through the street, near the railroad depot in Flushing, the straw was discovered to be on fire. The wagon was unloaded, but not in time to save the straw. Slavin's right hand was severely burned and bruised in his efforts to save the horses and the wagon, in which he succeeded. The team belonged to Geo. Bradish, Esq., The fire was supposed to be the work of mischievious urchins. --Queen's Co. Sentinel.
